Jim has been the principal dentist at Emsworth Dental Surgery since he and Caroline took over the practice in March 2008. He qualified in 1998 from Bristol Dental School and completed his Foundation training in Bristol. Following this he spent two years at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth as a surgical senior house officer gaining experience in all aspects of oral surgery. It was while at Plymouth that Jim gained his membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery. The next year was spent in the Personal Dental Service which was a community based position serving the dental needs of inner city Bristol. Jim spent a further seven years as a general dental practitioner working both in Bristol and Wellington, Somerset.
The birth of Jim and Caroline’s children bought them to Emsworth to be nearer family. The practice has grown considerably over the past eight years and Jim was appointed as an Educational Supervisor in 2010. He has responsibility for the education of his Foundation dentist and regularly teaches within the practice and at the study days organised by the Wessex Deanery.
Jim is a General Dental Practioner with an interest in oral surgery and occlusion (how our teeth bite together). This complex subject is very relevant to treating muscular pain around the jaws and certain types of headache.
Caroline graduated from University of Bristol dental school in 1999 and since then has worked in general practice. She has a wide range of interests including periodontology, preventative dentistry and treating children. She enjoys visiting schools and nurseries to promote oral health education.
Caroline is extremely proud of the New Practice and is excited about the new opportunities it offers. Outside the Practice she enjoys family life with her two children, her friends, travelling and pilates.

Harpreet also known, as ‘Harry’ to his family and friends became a partner and principal dentist at Emsworth Dental Surgery alongside James and Caroline in January 2017. He qualified from Kings College London in 2011 having completed his degrees both in Dentistry and Biomedical Science. He completed his foundation training year in Emsworth and stayed on as an associate having fallen in love with the area. In 2015 he helped project manage and oversee the build of our New Dental Surgery on the High Street.
Harpreets’ enthusiasm for knowledge in dentistry has allowed him membership to the Joint Dental Faculty. Currently, Harpreet is undertaking his double Masters in Clinical Dentistry for fixed and removable prosthodontics (Crowns, Bridges, Veneers and Dentures). Alongside this new venture he is also completing his Diploma in Implantology to help replace missing teeth. He is also a certified Invisalign provider and can aesthetically straighten your teeth in as little as 3-6 months.
As a General Dental Practitioner Harpreet has a keen interest in cosmetic dentistry especially “smile makeovers” He feels there is nothing more personally rewarding than giving back patients their confidence to smile again.
Isla qualified from the University of Bristol dental school in 1998. For the first five years of qualification she remained in the Bristol vicinity working as an associate dentist. During this time she gained her diploma in postgraduate dental studies from Bristol University in subjects including endodontics refilling is periodontics them disease and prosthetics dentures.
She moved to Emsworth in 2004 due to her to husbands work and worked as an associate dentist in the local area. Within this time of working in the area she had the privilege of assisting a local specialist and for five years carried out implant restorations. During this time she gained her Diploma in Postgraduate Dental Studies from Bristol University in subjects including Endodontics (root fillings) Periodontics (gum disease) and Prosthetics (dentures). She joined Emsworth Dental Surgery in 2010 and has recently completed a postgraduate restorative course in London. Isla enjoys all aspects of dentistry and in particular crown and bridgework, dentures and treating nervous patients.
Helen qualified as a dental hygienist from the Royal Navy Dental training school (Portsmouth) in 1985 and enjoys keeping updated with regular continuing professional education courses including the extended duties for Dental Hygienists (2005) and has worked in Emsworth since 2000. Helen has worked in both hospital and private practices ranging from full to part-time work to accommodate three children and her husband! Having been brought up and educated in the Emsworth area, Helen in her spare time enjoys many outdoor hobbies that living and working near the sea and South Downs provides.
Tom is a very popular new member of our team. He joined us part-time at the beginning of 2016 but has been working full time since qualification in 2012. Tom qualified from the University of Sheffield and has experience in both NHS and Private Practices. He enjoys taking part in his continuing professional education to further his knowledge in the hygiene and dental world. Tom thrives on welcoming all patients and enjoys treating the more anxious patient making them feel at ease throughout their treatment.
Heather joined Emsworth dental Surgery in November 2015 and brought a significant amount of experience with her after qualifying as a dental nurse in 2009. Heather is our decontamination lead and also helps with the practice governance. When not at work Heather enjoys going to the cinema to watch the latest film with school friends and spending time at home with her two cats and family.
Kim joined us in 2014 as an apprentice and subsequently qualified as a dental nurse in April 2016. She has proven to be a very popular and valuable member of our team. Kimberley has a keen interest to further extend her nursing qualification in the future. Currently Kimberley is training for the role of a dental implant nurse. Outside of the practice Kimberley enjoys travelling around Europe, spending time with her family and friends.
Becki is our Trainee Dental Nurse. She joined us in March 2017 and has made a huge impact on the team. Becki is always very bubbly and enthusiastic. She is studying towards her Dental Nursing Qualification at Eastleigh college and has participated in our open day with her excellent oral health education. In her spare time Becki enjoys travelling around the world and cooking oriental foods.
Leticia join us in October 2017 as a trainee dental nurse and have become a very popular member of the team. Leticia is very friendly and empathetic and loves practical work. Leticia will be joining Eastleigh College in March 2017 to start her qualification in NVQ Level 3 Dental Nursing. Leticia has a great interest in fashion and when she is not shopping she loves to spend time with her family and going to the cinema.
Julie is our head receptionist and is fantastic in her role. Julie joined the practice in January 2015. Julie likes to implement ideas where she feels there is a potential improvement for patient care. Julie is a mum of two children and very much enjoys spending time with her granddaughter.
Karen has started working with us in December 2017. She is fantastic as a dental receptionist and enjoys the customer service aspect of her role. Karen had a little boy back in February 2017 and loves spending time with him and her husband. When not working Karen likes to organise local table top sale events.
Yuchen is our foundation dentist who qualified in Dundee, Scotland. Yuchen very much enjoys learning new skills within dentistry and attends a lot of courses to help her progress. When not at work, she loves to explore the world and try different types of cuisines. Yuchen originates from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and very much looks forward to spending quality time with friends and family at every opportunity.
Julie joined us in January 2018 and is a professional at admin work. She has many years experience in reception and administration roles, and has proven to be a fantastic dental receptionist. When not working, Julie enjoys spending time with her family and going out with friends.
