Jim has been the principal dentist at Emsworth Dental Surgery since he and Caroline took over the practice in March 2008. He qualified in 1998 from Bristol Dental School and completed his Foundation training in Bristol. Following this he spent two years at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth as a surgical senior house officer gaining experience in all aspects of oral surgery. It was while at Plymouth that Jim gained his membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery. The next year was spent in the Personal Dental Service which was a community based position serving the dental needs of inner city Bristol. Jim spent a further seven years as a general dental practitioner working both in Bristol and Wellington, Somerset.
The birth of Jim and Caroline’s children bought them to Emsworth to be nearer family. The practice has grown considerably over the past eight years and Jim was appointed as an Educational Supervisor in 2010. He has responsibility for the education of his Foundation dentist and regularly teaches within the practice and at the study days organised by the Wessex Deanery.
Jim is a General Dental Practioner with an interest in oral surgery and occlusion (how our teeth bite together). This complex subject is very relevant to treating muscular pain around the jaws and certain types of headache.
Caroline graduated from University of Bristol dental school in 1999 and since then has worked in general practice. She has a wide range of interests including periodontology, preventative dentistry and treating children. She enjoys visiting schools and nurseries to promote oral health education.
Caroline is extremely proud of the New Practice and is excited about the new opportunities it offers. Outside the Practice she enjoys family life with her two children, her friends, travelling and pilates.

Harpreet also known, as ‘Harry’ to his family and friends became a partner and principal dentist at Emsworth Dental Surgery alongside James and Caroline in January 2017. He qualified from Kings College London in 2011 having completed his degrees both in Dentistry and Biomedical Science. He completed his foundation training year in Emsworth and stayed on as an associate having fallen in love with the area. In 2015 he helped project manage and oversee the build of our New Dental Surgery on the High Street.
Harpreets’ enthusiasm for knowledge in dentistry has allowed him membership to the Joint Dental Faculty. Currently, Harpreet is undertaking his double Masters in Clinical Dentistry for fixed and removable prosthodontics (Crowns, Bridges, Veneers and Dentures). Alongside this new venture he is also completing his Diploma in Implantology to help replace missing teeth. He is also a certified Invisalign provider and can aesthetically straighten your teeth in as little as 3-6 months.
As a General Dental Practitioner Harpreet has a keen interest in cosmetic dentistry especially “smile makeovers” He feels there is nothing more personally rewarding than giving back patients their confidence to smile again.
Isla graduated from Bristol University with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 1998. Since graduating, she has worked in general practice and was a Clinical Assistant in the Oral Surgery Department at Bristol Dental Hospital until she moved to Hampshire. She has always been keen to continue to develop her skills and knowledge. She gained her Diploma in Postgraduate Dental Studies in 2004 at Bristol University and more recently has completed an Advanced Postgraduate Restorative course, based in London, under the supervision of Professor Paul Tipton and an aesthetic dentistry course with the renowned Dr Monik Vassant.
Isla’s approach is gentle and she enjoys building strong, professional and trusting relationships with her patients. Her aim is to provide the best possible care, with the most minimally invasive intervention, and is passionate about paying attention to the finest of details in her work, in order to achieve results her patients love. She is a certified Invisalign provider for clear orthodontic treatment and when required is able to combine a blend of orthodontic tooth movement, with cosmetic dentistry to deliver beautiful smiles. As well as dentistry, Isla has an interest in providing Dermal Fillers and Anti Wrinkle Treatment. With this, she aims to soften the ageing process, enhance the patients features and beauty, while maintaining a revitalised natural appearance.
Isla is married with three children and in her free time loves exercising, walking the dog and competing throughout the UK as a qualified racing driver in the Caterham car her husband built for her.
Gemma is one of our associate dentists who graduated from Plymouth Dental School and has been with us since September 2018, completing her foundation training at the practice. Gemma has an interest in all aspects of general dentistry and her calm and caring nature means she is particularly good at treating new and nervous patients. She is continually progressing her career, having recently completed her Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgeons examinations with the Royal College of Surgeons.
Gemma moved to Emsworth in March 2020. Outside of work she enjoys horse riding and spending time outdoors, especially running, swimming and enjoying the water sports Emsworth has to offer.
Craig grew up in the North West and has recently moved to live on the south coast. He initially studied for a degree in Physiological Sciences at Newcastle University and it was from here that he decided to pursue a career in dentistry, gaining his BDS from Liverpool. He is interested in all aspects of dentistry and enjoys improving his knowledge by attending courses.
Craig enjoys spending time outdoors and is often cycling or kayaking with friends in his free time.
Helen qualified as a dental hygienist from the Royal Navy Dental training school (Portsmouth) in 1985 and enjoys keeping updated with regular continuing professional education courses including the extended duties for Dental Hygienists (2005) and has worked in Emsworth since 2000. Helen has worked in both hospital and private practices ranging from full to part-time work to accommodate three children and her husband! Having been brought up and educated in the Emsworth area, Helen in her spare time enjoys many outdoor hobbies that living and working near the sea and South Downs provides.
Tom is a very popular new member of our team. He joined us part-time at the beginning of 2016 but has been working full time since qualification in 2012. Tom qualified from the University of Sheffield and has experience in both NHS and Private Practices. He enjoys taking part in his continuing professional education to further his knowledge in the hygiene and dental world. Tom thrives on welcoming all patients and enjoys treating the more anxious patient making them feel at ease throughout their treatment.
Abigail qualified as a dental hygienist in 1985 at King's College London. She started her career working in private practices in London where she achieved her diploma in Dental Health Education. Abigail returned home to Hayling Island where she works in a private practice and more recently started working with us in Emsworth. Abigail has been actively involved with the regional group of British Society of Dental Hygienists and Therapists, responsible for helping organise the academic meetings, as part of continuing professional development. Abigail loves her work as a dental hygienist and in her spare time she enjoys baking and entering the annual Emsworth Horticultural Show. She is an enthusiastic member of Portsmouth Wine Society and never happier than when she is pottering in her garden with her labrador Bella.
Sacha joined the practice in November 2015 as a qualified dental nurse and in 2017 was promoted to Practice Manager. Since then she has completed a Level 3 Certificate in Leadership and Management. Sacha very much enjoys the day to day running of the practice. When she is not at work you will find her working alongside charities and travelling the world.
Kim joined us in 2014 as an apprentice and subsequently qualified as a dental nurse in April 2016. She has proven to be a very popular and valuable member of our team. Kimberley has a keen interest to further extend her nursing qualification in the future. Currently Kimberley is training for the role of a dental implant nurse. Outside of the practice Kimberley enjoys travelling around Europe, spending time with her family and friends.
Becki joined us in March 2017 and has made a huge impact on the team. Becki qualified as a Dental Nurse in March 2018 at Eastleigh college. Since then Becki has furthered her training in impression-taking and is looking to pursue a dental career in radiography. Becki is always very bubbly and enthusiastic. In her spare time Becki enjoys travelling the world and cooking oriental foods.
Leticia joined us in October 2017 as a trainee dental nurse and is a very popular member of the team. Leticia is very friendly and empathetic and loves practical work. Leticia qualified as a dental nurse in May 2020 at Eastleigh College gaining a qualification in NVQ Level 3 Dental Nursing. Leticia has a great interest in fashion and when she is not shopping she loves to spend time with her family and going to the cinema.
Chelsea Joined Emsworth Dental Surgery in October 2018, as a Trainee Dental Nurse. She has proven to be a very popular member of the team and will be joining Eastleigh College in 2019 to start her qualification in NVQ Level 3 Dental Nursing. Chelsea has a huge interest in baking cakes and has a blog that she updates frequently. Alongside her baking, she likes to volunteer for the RSPCA.
Amelia joined us in July 2019 and has quickly proven to be a asset to the practice. Amelia has 8 years of experience as a Healthcare support worker and enjoys the patient journey. Amelia will be joining Eastleigh college in March 2020 to start her NVQ Level qualification in Dental Nursing. When Amelia is not at the practice, you will find her at the gym or sailing with her family.
Julie is our head receptionist and is fantastic in her role. Julie joined the practice in January 2015. Julie likes to implement ideas where she feels there is a potential improvement for patient care. Julie is a mum of two children and very much enjoys spending time with her granddaughter.
Julie joined us in January 2018 and is a professional at admin work. She has many years experience in reception and administration roles, and has proven to be a fantastic dental receptionist. Due to all of Julie’s hard work and experience, she is now our Compliance Lead at the practice. Julie helps oversee all the practice governance and when she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and going out with friends.
Karen has started working with us in December 2017. She is fantastic as a dental receptionist and enjoys the customer service aspect of her role. Karen had a little boy back in February 2017 and loves spending time with him and her husband. When not working Karen likes to organise local table top sale events.
Amanda joined us in July 2019 and is proven to be an asset to our team. Amanda has many years of experience in admin and finance and is looking forward to having a more face-to-face role with our patients. When not at the practice Amanda enjoys spending time with her family and visiting stately homes around the UK.
